The Impala is one of the clear mainstays for Chevy. It
is General Motors' best-selling car in the U.S., and it
ranks fifth among national sales leaders. For the 2005 model
year, Chevrolet says it carries forth the model line mostly
unchanged, but there are a few perks and improvements to
the large sedan.
The majority of the new changes involve the top-line SS,
a sporty model with an undeniable dose of raw power. For
the SS, Chevy upgrades with minor trim changes outside and
different front headrests. The SS also includes 17-inch
wheels vs. other models' 16s. Furthermore, the 2005 SS offers
chromed-finish 17s as a new option.
The 2005 Chevrolet Impala is available in a base trim, an

The body-color side moldings that are standard or available
on all 2005 Chevrolet Impala models are now made from a
specially developed nanocomposite. This material creates
a part that weighs 7 percent less than the part it replaced,
plus it has a higher quality finish and is 100-percent recyclable.
Base models come with a 3.4-liter V6 with 180 horsepower
and 200 lb-ft of torque. Standard on LS models and optional
with the base trim is a 3.8-liter Series II V6 with 200
horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque.
The SS leaves the other two in the dust with a supercharged
