Having earned the trust and loyalty of motorists around the world for generations, the sleek and reliable Toyota Corolla Sedan enters 2002 with a string of upgrades it received last year. Backed by a solid warranty, a reputation for quality and longevity, and millions of accolades, it represents one of the finest vehicles out there today and enjoys excellent resale value.

Available Models
Ready to go for 2002 are three Toyota Corolla Sedan models: Corolla CE, Corolla LE, and Corolla S. Each has a seating capacity of five passengers with four-door entry. They differ primarily in transmission, and the Corolla S has a sportier image with upgraded luxury and convenience features.

Interior Features
Inside the comfortable Corolla Sedan, five passengers may be seated and comforts such as push-button air recirculation control. The LE model features a rear view mirror with integrated map lights, and some automatic transmission models are equipped with rear dual cup holders plus a large center console with armrest.

2002 Toyota Corolla interiorThe Corolla S Sedan adds items such as adjustable bucket seats with unique sport cloth upholstery, covered center console box with integrated sunglasses holder, red illuminated instrument cluster with tach and outside temperature gauge, and leather-look steering wheel.

Exterior Features
The previous model year has seen the Corolla Sedan spruced up a bit, with a new front fascia with aerodynamic multi-reflector halogen four-beam headlights, chrome-plated trim, lowered front bumper, and round reverse tail lights.

Corolla S turns up the volume with sleek-looking wheel covers, black remote control mirrors, integrated fog lights, plus color-keyed rear mudguards, front grille, protective bodyside moldings, and rocker panel moldings.

Under the hood of the popular Corolla beats a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, sixteen-valve, DOHC VVT-i engine with variable valve timing, pulling together for an output of 125 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission on the Corolle CE is five-speed manual with optional three-speed automatic transmission. Both the LE and S models offer optional four-speed automatic transmissions.

With an eye towards economy and the environment, the Toyota Corolla Sedan has a fuel consumption rating of 32/41 mpg (city/hwy) with a five-speed manual transmission. The three-speed automatic CE checks in at 29/33 mpg (city/hwy), while the four-speed models are rated at 30/39 mpg (city/hwy).

Safety and Security
In the interest of safety, the Toyota Corolla features side-impact door beams; front and rear crumple zones, and a center high-mounted stop light. Other standard fare includes three-point seatbelts at all seating positions with adjustable shoulder belt anchors up front, a driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, child safety locks, and internal emergency trunk release. Side impact air bags are optional.
