For those of you looking for an economical vehicle that is sophisticated and accommodating, the new 2002 Toyota Echo Sedan is an excellent choice. Whether you are looking for your first car, or a second car for work or family, it offers up plenty of interior space for its subcompact exterior, and saves you money while you drive with its superior fuel consumption ratings.

Available Models
For 2002, the Toyota Echo Sedan lines up with two models - one with two doors and the other with four doors. Both configurations are spacious due to the cab-forward design and taller stature, and are easy to climb in and out of due to the high seating position.

Interior Features
The Echo Sedan features a high, center-mounted instrument cluster that is quick and easy to read, and other standards such as an AM/FM stereo with cassette player and six speakers. An AM/FM stereo with cassette player and CD player with six powerful speakers is offered as an option. There is plenty of storage space that is afforded by the large door pockets, seatback pockets, and storage compartments surrounding the audio system.

The list of standard amenities goes on to include tilt steering and durable fabric upholstery. Further options listed are air conditioning, 60/40 split folding seats, power steering, power door locks, and digital clock.

Exterior Features
The Toyota Echo Sedan is offered in eight exterior colors and features optional color-keyed bumpers and door handles, fourteen-inch wheels with wheel covers, rear lip spoiler, and sports body-cladding.

Performance2002 Toyota Echo - interior
At the heart of the Toyota Echo Sedan is a 1.5-litre, twin-cam, four-cylinder VVT-i engine with variable valve timing that combines for an effort of 108 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a lightweight five-speed manual, with automatic offered as an option. There is plenty of power, yet a high fuel economy rating is maintained at a very respectable 34/41 mpg (city/hwy) for the manual transmission and 32/38 mpg (city/hwy) for the automatic model.

Safety and Security
With the issue of safety a common concern - especially amongst families - the Toyota Echo Sedan is equipped with standards such as front and rear crumple zones, side impact door beams, driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, head restraints, three-point seatbelts, child safety locks and child seat tethers/anchors.

Options in this department include anti-lock brakes for optimum control while stopping suddenly or braking on slippery surfaces, and side impact air bags.
