Visit Acura for more information on the Acura MDX.

Just as the Acura sedans offer great value for their class and market segment, so does the lone Acura offering to the SUV class. The 2003 Acura MDX is loaded with interior content, packed full of power and graced with the performance and chassis technology to handle it all and house it with grace.

The changes for 2003 just add to that superiority of value with standard antiskid and a 20 hp power boost. Other interior options, like the rear-view camera and a DVD entertainment system, mean that the 2003 Acura MDX is at the forefront of interior amenity delivery.

Available Models
The 2003 Acura MDX comes in a base version but it also has a trim level upgrade. The Touring grade gives a number of big-ticket features.

Interior Features
Inside the 2003 Acura MDX, even at the base level, there are a number of first-rate features. For example, front and rear automatic climate controls with air conditioning, tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, leather upholstery on 7-passenger seating including heated front bucket seats and an 8-way power driver seat are all standard. The heated power mirrors, power windows, door locks, sunroof, remote keyless entry, garage-door opener, trip computer and automatic day/night rear-view mirror are also standard. The premium Bose audio system is also standard and these features are all on the base model!

Upgrading to the touring grade means 8-way power for the front passenger, memory settings, rain-sensing wipers and an in-dash 6cd Bose upgrade to the audio system.

Exterior Features
The 2003 Acura MDX has styling suitable for its sporty, performance oriented abilities. This is a vehicle choice for people who want the utility of an SUV without sacrificing their ability to go fast and drive for joy. The aerodynamics reflects this but at the same time, good approach and departure angles make the MDX a competent all-terrain ride. A roof rack adds to Touring grade value while fully integrated fog lights and high intensity discharge headlights enhance for and function.

Performance
The MDX has a single engine choice, a 3.5-liter V6 coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission and ridden on an all-wheel drive platform. At peak power this engine produces 260 hp at 5300 rpm, and 255 lb-ft of torque from 3000 on up.

The important part of this engine, however, is that despite its brawny capability, the innovative and sophisticated technology has allowed Acura to design the first SUV to achieve ULEV or Ultra Low Emission Vehicle status.

Mileage is also quite respectable with 17/23 mpg (city/hwy).

Safety and Security
The safety technology is another area where Acura has managed to offer more for less, certainly more than average. Dual front airbags, front side airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and an antiskid system are all include at the base level.
