A new top-line trim, more safety equipment and revised
styling are on the list of upgrades for Honda's compact
sport utility vehicle. The new 2005 Honda CR-V benefits
from all this and more, resulting in a go-anywhere, do-anything
attitude that is sure to increase its appeal.
With the addition of the new decked-out SE model, the CR-V
family can now claim to offer the full-spectrum of trims,
from bare bones to decadent. Keep Honda's legendary durability
and engineering quality and add more safety items and you've
got the updated 2005 Honda CR-V.
The 2005 Honda CR-V is offered in three models: LX, EX and
the new SE.
The interior of the new Honda CR-V gets a few upgrades here
and there. On the EX trim level, steering mounted audio
controls and an outside temperature gauge are added, and
all models now feature new retractable grab rails and larger
SE models emerge as the most refined of the three trims.
They have an interior styling that dominated in leather.
Beginning with full leather seating, the SE also adds heated
seats and door mirrors and a leather steering wheel and
On the exterior, the SE's unique appearance includes body-colored
bumpers, side moldings, door handles and hard spare tire
cover. Along with the other available exterior colors, Pewter
Pearl is exclusively offered on the SE trim.
16-inch wheels have been added for all trim levels, along
with a new EX alloy and LX steel wheel designs. In addition,
three new exterior colors join the Honda CR-V palate for
2005: Silver Moss, Redondo Red Pearl and Sahara Sand.
Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are both offered on
2005 CR-V trims, though the new SE model can only be had
with AWD. A new cam-driven real-time AWD mechanism replaces
the previous pump-type system, improving acceleration and
hill climbing performance from the previous model.
The 2005 Honda CR-V continues to use last year's 2.4-liter
dual-overhead cam inline 4-cylinder model. Power ratings
for this year are 160 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 162 lb-ft
of torque at 3600 rpm. There are two transmissions offered:
5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic.
Safety and Security
An increase in the number of standard safety features is
another of the big improvements to the lineup this year.
All CR-Vs will now come equipped with front side airbags,
side curtain airbags and Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist
(VSA) with Traction Control.
Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and dual front airbags are
