Fahrvergnügen! If your looking for a "fun driving experience" the Volkswagen's two-door New Beetle is for you. The 2003 Volkswagen Beetle takes second generation to new galaxies with the introduction of the much-anticipated convertible. Those who have been on board with the now defunct Cabrio can now alternatively find themselves venturing off on to new inter-galactical ventures with even more room. Each trim level offers plenty of under-the-hood options to satiate all discriminations and prowess. Lots of extras abound as part of the standard package, with Volkswagen's usual line-up of fun-ctional add-ons.

Available Models
The 2003 Volkswagen Beetle is available in various engine-variated models: the GL, GLS, GLX, Turbo S, and GLS TDI (diesel), all of which are two-door, four-seaters available as convertible or…not.

Interior Features
Standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, six-speaker cassette stereo system, power locks with keyless entry, pollen/dust/odour filter, folding rear seat, outside-temperature indicator, and tachometer. Up the line to the GLS, you can find the addition of controls for power sunroof, and power convertible top. The GLX ups the anti with leather upholstery, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and self-dimming rear-view mirror.

Exterior Features
On the exterior of the 2003 Volkswagen Beetle, convenience and luxury features never cease to delight. Heated power mirrors with turn signals on the GL, the addition of fog lights, and alloy wheels to the GLS, with heated washer nozzles, rain-sensing wipers, and rear spoiler added to the GLX.

Performance
Tech specs offer several configurations on deck. GL trim-level models are equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, capable of 115 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque. Next up on the list is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque (GLS and GLX trims). GLS TDI models have a 1.9-liter, in-line, turbo-charged direct injection 4-cylinder diesel engine, specially engineered for maximum efficiency. It generates 90 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque and has a fuel economy of 42/49 mpg (city/hwy) for manuals, 34/45 mpg (city/hwy) for automatics. The new Turbo S is given a beefed-up 1.8-liter 4-cylinder motor with 180 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.

Pass with conviction! Transmissions manifest with a 5-speed manual or optional adaptive 4-speed automatic, or the extra-terrestrial 6-speed manual on the Turbo S model. The New Beetle's estimated unleaded fuel mileage? 24/31 (city/hwy) mpg (based on 5 speed manual).

Safety and Security
Nothing is spared for your safety with the 2003 Volkswagen Beetle. Standard features include an anti-theft alarm system with remote panic button, remote keyless entry, and a central power locking system. Also standard are dual front and front side impact airbags, anti-intrusion side door beams, and a telescoping height adjustable steering column that is collapsible upon impact. Brakes that are ABS power-assisted, dual-circuit with vented front discs and solid rear discs provide utmost dependability. Up the line to the GLS & GLX, you can also see an anti-skid system.
