Visit Hyundai for more information on the Hyundai Sonata.

When you combine the price, road manners and overall build quality of the Sonata with Hyundai's generous warranty program, you quickly see why these models are selling like crazy. The South Korean automaker's basic warranty is among the industry's longest: 5-years/60,000-mi. bumper-to-bumper, 10/100,000 powertrain. It certainly underscores the confidence manufacturers have in their vehicles.

And if Hyundai is willing to guarantee its engineering and rest its business upon it, there must be some truth to the claim that their vehicles are as dependable as they come. For everyday driving that will last year in and year in, few models can match the 2003 HYundai Sonata.

Available Models
The 2003 Hyundai Sonata is offered in four models: Base, Base V6, GLS and LX.

Interior Features
The four-door 2003 Hyundai Sonata is a compact sedan that still finds room to handle five passengers. Its interior features a practical design that is as convenient as it is uncluttered. Simplicity is often the mark of excellence - an idea the Sonata upholds and proves.

However, that is not to say that the new 2003 Hyundai Sonata skimps on the standard features. This is especially so with the top-line LX trim, which provides air conditioning, leather seating surfaces, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an AM/FM/cassette player and automatic climate control. Additional items can be added in packages or individually.

Exterior Features
The modesty of Sonata's interior continues to its exterior design, in which practical features are molded into a pleasing form. Speed-sensitive wipers, front fog lights and an available moonroof are among the functional items.

Performance
With the 2003 Hyundai Sonata, customers are given the option to choose between two engines. For simple transportation from A to B, the Base model has a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 138 horsepower and 156 lb-ft. of torque. If increased power is your thing, the rest of the model lineup is right for you. The other models all feature a 2.7-liter V6 engine that cranks out 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of torque.

For two-handed steering, 4-speed automatic transmission is available with both engines. If you like to take a more active role in the Sonata's acceleration, 5-speed manual transmission is also available.

Safety and Security
5-mph bumpers on the 2003 Sonata will help out the pocketbook by absorbing the shock of low-speed accidents and protecting body panels. Other safety features include dual front airbags, front side airbags and optional antilock brakes.

2003 Hyundai Sonata Highlights

Every Sonata is equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power outside mirrors, digital quartz clock, AM/FM/CD stereo, fog lamps, keyless entry and alarm system, center console with storage box and dual cupholders, map pockets in the doors, cargo area lamp, 12-volt DC auxiliary power outlet and electronic remote releases for the trunk and fuel door.
LX model includes a leather interior package, a power driver’s seat, fully automatic temperature control and the available HomeLink remote system and electrochromic inside rearview mirror.
Sonata GLS and LX model features include the 2.7-liter V6 engine, premium AM/FM/CD stereo with cassette, 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels with P205/60-16 tires, headed outside rearview mirrors, console with double storage boxes, twin overhead map lamps and a folding rear center armrest with beverage holder and storage box, and chrome insert bodyside moldings and bumpers.
2003 Hyundai Sonata offers such advanced safety features as driver and passenger front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and automatic front safety belt pretensioners with load limiters. The Sonata’s safety story begins with the vehicle’s basic structure – a highly rigid unibody structure designed as a steel safety cell that helps protect occupants from crash forces in front, rear and side impacts.
The Sonata also offers the high-tech Hyundai Passenger Presence Detection system, which prevents front passenger airbags from deploying if the seat is empty. The passenger presence system reduces crash damage costs by eliminating unnecessary passenger side airbag deployment.
Hyundai also provides original Sonata owners with limited powertrain coverage for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Even if the car is sold, Hyundai still backs the Sonata’s powertrain for five years or 60,000 miles.
