Visit Dodge for more information on the Dodge Magnum.

Entering a new age, Dodge hopes that the transformation of the now-departed Intrepid sedan will herald in a new age of glory. If anything, it should at least force the other automotive giants to stand up and take notice and, perhaps, go back to their own drawing boards.

The reason for that is because the 2005 Dodge Magnum is a unique vehicle somewhere between a sedan, wagon and an SUV.

The Magnum is the first rear-wheel-drive car for the Dodge brand in nearly 20 years, and designers used the opportunity to create a vehicle unlike anything on the road.

Available Models
The 2005 Dodge Magnum is offered in three model trims: SE, SXT and RT.

Interior Features
Of obvious note is the sheer interior volume of the 2005 Dodge Magnum. Designer's raised the seating positions two-and-a-half inches from current Chrysler Group passenger cars for better command of the road. In addition, a spacious and flexible cargo area has been added, featuring an upper flat-load floor that expands when the rear seats are folded forward. More storage is provided below this load floor for smaller items and in deep pockets on either side of the floor rearward of the wheels.

If you want special treatment in addition to the spaciousness of the Magnum, you need only pick up an RT model. It comes with leather upholstery, an 8-way power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated power mirrors and a Boston Acoustics sound system.

Options for 2005 include a navigation system, satellite radio, an AM/FM 6-disc CD/MP3 changer and much more.

Exterior Features
Taking a cue from the Dodge Ram truck, the prominent front grille of the Magnum features a texture of horizontal bars. And everyone gets to ride on massive 18-inch tires and wheels.

Performance
Base SE models have a 2.7-liter V6 with 190 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 190 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The SXT features a 3.5-liter V6 that offers 250 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 380000 rpm.

Up at the top of the line, the RT model uses a muscular 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with amazing specs of 340 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 390 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The V8 features Chrysler's Multi-Displacement System, which deactivates four cylinders in idle and cruise conditions to save fuel.

The SE has a 4-speed automatic transmission; the other models get a 5-speed automatic with a manual shift gate.

Safety and Security
SXT and RT models have antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, brake assist and an antiskid system. They are optional with the SE.
