2009 Jeep Reviews

Visit Jeep for more information on the Jeep Commander.

At first glance the 2009 Jeep Commander is easily recognizable as a Jeep vehicle. The classic Jeep grille and rugged masculine lines let you know this SUV will have the reliability and performance that Jeep is known for. Combine that with the spacious interior that screams comfort and luxury you get the SUV that other SUVs wish they could be.

Available Models
The 2009 Jeep Commander comes in three models the Jeep Commander Sport, Jeep Commander Limited and the Jeep Commander Overland.

Interior Features
The interior of the Jeep Commander is spacious with three rows of theater-style seating that can accommodate seven passengers. The third row is higher than the second row -- which is higher than the front row providing better viewing for all passengers. Headroom isn't sacrificed by this effect as the roof is also raised 3.5" over the second row than the first. The second and third row fold forward creating a large flat cargo storage area.

Available CommandView™ Skylights located over the second row of seating expands the sense of interior roominess. The skylights also have roller shades to block out sunlight when necessary.

Exterior Features
The exterior of this rugged, masculine machine was inspired by three legendary Jeep vehicles: the Willys Station Wagons (1946 to 1962), the Jeep Wagoneer (1963 to 1991) and the Jeep Cherokee (1984 to 2001).

Performance
There are three engines available for the 2009 Jeep Commander. A 3.7 Liter V6 comes standard with the Commander Sport outputting 210 hp and 235 lb.-ft of torque.

A 4.7 Liter V8 305 hp engine is optional on the Sport and standard on the Commander Limited and outputs 305 hp and 334 lb.ft. torque.

A new 5.7L HEMI® V-8 comes standard on the Jeep Commander Overland and is optional on the Limited model. This engine cranks out 357 horsepower and 289 lb.-ft of torque. The new Hemi engine outputs 8.2% more horsepower and 3.7% increased torque while giving improved idle quality and better fuel economy than the previous generation engine.

A choice from 3 4x4 systems is available - Qudra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II. The Quadra-Drive II offers best in-class traction performance by combining an NV245 full time transfer case with Electronic Limited Slip Differentials.

Safety and Security
The 2009 Jeep Commander has class leading Off-road, On-road and safety performance for Three-row vehicles. Standard on all modes is the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) designed to help maintain vehicle directional stability in sever maneuvers on any type of surface. Sensors throughout the vehicle send signals which are used to determine the appropriate throttle and braking adjustments needed for directional stability.

Some of the other standard safety features are Advanced Multi-stage Driver and Front-Passenger air bags. Advanced supplemental side-curtain airbags, ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System and Sentry Key® engine immobilizer. HomeLink universal home security system transceiver comes standard on the Jeep Commander Limited and Outland and available in a package on the Sport model.
