Visit Kia for more information on the Kia Spectra.

Kia is known for producing vehicles that are priced below its competitors but not built below its competitors. The 2003 Kia Spectra continues this tradition. It is a subcompact car with a price tag its rivals cannot best. Answering the consumer's need for versatility, it can be purchased as either a 4-door sedan or a 4-door hatchback. Both versions accommodate five passengers without effort. All Spectras contain a 4-cylinder engine, and can be fitted with either manual or automatic transmission.

Available Models
The 2003 Kia Spectra sedans are available in the Base and the LS models, while the hatchbacks are available in the GS and the GSX models. All four models are available with 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission.

Interior Features
The standard interior features of the 2003 Kia Spectra sedans and hatchbacks include a split folding rear seat, a digital clock, front bucket seats, and power steering. Other standard features on all Kia Spectra models are driver seat height and lumbar adjustment, an AM/FM/CD player, map lights, and cloth upholstery. The LS and GSX models also come equipped with a tilt steering wheel, power door locks, mirrors, and windows, and air conditioning. Promoting its upscale image, the GSX model has its steering wheel wrapped with leather.

Options packages offer the Base model and the GS model air conditioning, and a 6-disc CD changer. The LS and the GSX models have the option of the 6-disc CD changer as well, along with remote keyless entry. A handy new feature this year is an illuminated ignition switch.

Exterior Features
Automatic-off headlights are standard on all 2003 Kia Spectra models. The GSX model also comes equipped with alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler. The rear spoiler is an option on the Base and the LS models, while the LS can also be fitted with alloy wheels.

The 2003 Kia Spectra contains a 1.8-litre dohc 4-cylinder engine that provides numbers of 124 hp at 6000 rpm, and 119 lbs-ft of torque at 4900 rpm. Transmission in all models can be either 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission. The fuel ratings on the Spectras are 24/32 mpg (city/highway) for models operating on manual transmission, and 22/30 mpg for models operating on automatic transmission.

Safety and Security
Dual front airbags are offered as a standard safety feature on all the Kia Spectra models. The LS model and the GSX model also come equipped with fog lights.

2003 Kia Spectra

For 2003 the Spectra line-up features four different selections to suit a variety of tastes and budgets: the Spectra base and Spectra LS four-door sedans and the Spectra GS and Spectra GSX five-door hatchbacks.
On the outside, all 2003 Spectras offer a body side molding design that was previously an option on the base four-door and GS five-door, protecting the vehicles from the hard knocks of life (and parking lots). The GS and GSX five-door models add a rear wiper/washer with intermittent setting to their list of standard equipment.
Significant interior changes have been made to provide more comfort and convenience for the driver and passengers. For 2003, all four trim levels of the Spectra come standard with an AM/FM/CD player, previously an option only on the LS and GSX. All models also receive the addition of sound insulation foam to the roof and floor, providing a quieter cabin.
Like all Kia models, the Spectra is covered by Kia's comprehensive warranty program, which offers unprecedented consumer protection. Included in the package are a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, a five-year or 60,000-mile limited basic warranty and a five-year or 100,000-mile anti-perforation warranty. A five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance plan is also part of the comprehensive coverage program.
