Visit Acura for more information on the Acura CL.

One of the exciting new cars this year is the 2003 Acura 3.2 CL a sporty and agile performance coupe. This 2-door 4-passenger car has great performance capability, a powerful engine for acceleration and merging confidence and an interior plushness that, combined with the other two characteristics, equates to pure value for money.

2003 brings a new close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission to compete with the Sequential SportShift manual shift equipped automatic.

Available Models
The 2003 Acura CL comes in two versions just like its sedan counterpart the 3.2 TL. The Coupe offering includes a base Acura 3.2 CL and then, the Acura 3.2 CL Type-S: a sport model with a significantly more powerful engine. Both models can be purchased with or without the new OnStar communication system option.

Interior Features
The 2003 Acura CL has one of the most generous offering of standard amenities in its class. Items like heated seats, automatic climate control, power sunroof, leather upholstery and much more are normally added cost extras but on the CL they are all included.

Sophisticated electronics are also on the roster. The OnStar system is just the latest addition to the technological prowess this vehicle offers. A premium Bose audio system is also in place. A 6CD changer, AM/FM tuner and several carefully placed speakers will get you excellent music quality.

Exterior Features
With a sleek and aggressive look that is demonstrative of its fiery heart, the CL Coupe has benefited from styling refinements. The grille received a body-colored surround, while in the rear, the CL gets a new clear tail light lens and a sporty chrome exhaust pipe finisher. 16- and 17-inch wheels convey a road hugging and high performance image: one that matches the powerful engines. Discharge (HID) headlights will offer drivers outstanding night time visibility.

Performance
The CL models are mostly distinguished by their different engines. Although both 3.2-liter models, one is significantly more powerful than the other.

The Type-S has this high-powered V6, which delivers 260 hp at 6100 rpm, and 232 lb-ft of torque between 3500 and 5500. That is 35hp more than the base CL. Its V6 gets 225 hp at 5600 rpm and, and 216 lb-ft of torque at 6100.

However, that is a small part of the difference between these two cars. One big addition that the Type-S has over its CL base is the close ratio 6-speed manual transmission, a new feature for this year. This transmission, coupled with the powerful engine means the CL Type-S can be a true racers machine with excellent feel, power and sheer mechanical grace.

Safety and Security
As in the TL Sedan, the optional OnStar system can add to occupant security but owners will enjoy outstanding passive and active safety technology, even without it.

The Type-S, which comes with the usual assortment of airbags and seat belts, also has antiskid, traction control, a sport suspension and road hugging, low profile 215/50VR17 tires.
