Visit Cadillac for more information on the Cadillac Escalade.

Commanding a beautifully sophisticated yet rugged appearance, the luxurious new 2002 Cadillac Escalade SUV deftly defies the competition not only for its overpowering good looks but also for its exquisite attention to detail and awesome performance. While others are merely wimpy cars in an SUV's body, the 2002 Cadillac Escalade truly is a powerful and versatile vehicle with plenty of interior space for passengers and cargo.

Available Models
For 2002, Cadillac offers up two models of the Escalade SUV - a 2WD and a 4WD - and they are absolutely loaded with everything you need. However, be sure to check out the amazing 2002 Cadillac Escalade Extended SUT - that's right, and sport utility truck for those with truly diversified lifestyle or work-related requirements.

Interior Features
Relax and enjoy the Cadillac's fine cabin, which features extensive standards such as color-keyed noise-dampening carpet, fully automatic climate control with separate front and rear controls, power windows, and power door locks. The floor console is equipped with damped-door storage covers, large storage bin and special storage areas, wood grain trim, rear seat audio, analog clock overhead with reading lamps, HomeLink transmitter, and controls for rear air conditioning and optional sunroof.

The interior also includes standard fare like theater dimming lights, electrochromic rearview mirror with compass and outside temperature gauge, cruise control, front passenger assist handles, and a wood-and-leather trimmed steering wheel with audio controls. The interior is trimmed with supple leather, as is the gear shift lever. Cruise along to the tune of a 250-watt, eleven-speaker Bose Acoustimass music system with in-dash six-CD changer and two sets of rear seat earphones.

Both front passengers are treated to ten-way power seats with articulating head restraints, heated seat cushions and seatbacks, and fold-down armrests. The driver seat has a memory feature, the second-row seating has heated seat cushions and armrests at outboard positions, and the third row seating splits and folds 50/50 and is removable.

Exterior Features
The elegant exterior of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade SUV is enhanced with body-colored features such as protective cladding, running boards with chrome accents, and heated power dual outside mirrors with puddle lamps and automatic adjust for ground view while in reverse. The door handles are chrome, and a convenient roof rack with chrome rails is standard.

Each Escalade SUV comes with rectangular halogen fog lights and recovery hooks incorporated into the front fascia, a lightweight aluminum rear liftgate, and a trailer hitch with built-in receiver. Every vehicle is fitted with seventeen-inch seven-spoke milled finish aluminum.

Performance
The 2002 Cadillac Escalade 2WD SUV packs a 5.3-litre eight cylinder engine with electronic throttle control, all-wheel drive, single-speed transfer case, viscous coupling-controlled torque transfer between front and rear axles, and four-speed automatic transmission. It produces an impressive 285 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

Upgrading performance, the Escalade 4WD SUV features a thundering 6.0-litre, eight-cylinder engine equipped with high-compression aluminum heads, heavy-duty trailering, StabiliTrak, and heavy-duty four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive 4th gear. The engine in this model cranks out 345 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

Safety and Security
In the safety department, the Escalade SUV is equipped with a multitude of features. Among the key examples are four-wheel ABS brakes, rear parking assist with warning chime, one year OnStar Luxury & Leisure service, and three-point seatbelts at all outboard seating positions. Each vehicle is also equipped with a theft-deterrent alarm system, HomeLink, driver air bag, passenger air bag, and side impact air bags.
